Safari

I just had a fairly significant birthday, and to celebrate, my wife and I took a dream trip to South Africa for a 5-day safari...

This was a good time of year to go since it's winter time there and also the dry season.  This means no insects right now and the snakes are still in hibernation!

We were located just on the edge of Kruger Park in the northeast province known as Limpopo.

It was pretty cold in the evenings (below freezing one night) and it actually snowed in Johannesburg the day we arrived.  However, the sun provided a welcome warmth in the short afternoons.

I have to say that this was one of the most fabulous experiences that I've ever had and would gladly return to do it again one day...
