Colony

I saw this Irish documentary last night at the Irish Film Institute...

This beautifully shot film addresses the topic of CCD (Colony Collapse Disorder) with class. Honey bee pollination accounts for approximately 1/3 of the edible produce grown in the U.S. each year. The problem is that the honey bees are dying at an alarming rate and nobody knows why.

This documentary doesn't pretend to know the answers. However, it does ask many questions (pesticides, disease, cell phone towers?) and follows some interesting characters (migratory bee keepers) along the way.

Highly recommended if you like your films to be "edutaining"...
