A historical drama produced by Czech Television.
Based on a famous Czech novel and set in the period just after World War I, the main character, Josef, is haunted by his experiences in the trenches and battlefields of the war.
Taking a wife and a civilian job in railway station 47, Josef saves the life of a young gravedigger trying to commit suicide.
The gravedigger is not as grateful as he should be and falls in love with Josef's wife...
... and drama ensues.
I'm sure the book was better than the movie but isn't this usually the case?
