Al Pacino was in Venice this year to receive the "Jaeger-LeCoultre Glory to the Filmmaker Award, " which is basically the festival's version of the Lifetime Achievement Award.
Pacino also presented a film that he directed and starred in (along with Jessica Chastain, pictured here), Wilde Salome.
This is an avant garde piece pulled together from many of his filmed theatrical performances of Oscar Wilde's "Salome" over the past few years, combined with extra footage shot in the Mojave desert, Dublin, London, and documentary interviews.
I didn't have an opportunity to see the film yet but my understanding is that it is in a similar style to Pacino's earlier Looking for Richard which I quite enjoyed.
